No more razors?

The braun Silk-expert 3 IPL is a permanent hair removal system using light beams. If, like me, you are fed up with shaving everyday then this seems like the answer to our prayers. It promises results in as little as eight weeks. I couldn’t wait to try it. The box is huge and I did think that I would get through all the packaging and find something the size of a razor inside but actually the product itself is quite big. It isn’t heavy but does still feel cumbersome despite its sleek ergonomically designed shape. It is all very simple to set up, just plug it in and you’re off. No need to wait for it to heat up or charge. The instruction booklet is 80% warnings and 20% manual. There are a lot of warnings about the correct way to operate, making sure you do not look directly at the light. It goes through the type of skin that can use the device and the likely time frames until you see results. Using the appliance is very straightforward, hold the device against your skin and press the button. Depending on if you are doing a large area (legs) or a small area (upper lip) you either hold the button down and move the device continuously or just press once and let go. The red flash it emits when you press the button is incredibly bright, I can see why you are not supposed to look at the light. It feels a little bit like a very mild electric shock, although not painful at all. The instructions say to move the device continuously while holding the button down to do large areas however the light only flashes every 2-3 seconds so the whole area is not being treated each time. The results? After 8 weeks I canStart to see the difference but the manual does say it can take up 18 months to achieve complete hair removal if you have particularly thick or coarse hair. It is also very patchy on my legs but hopefully over time this will even out. I will persevere as, if it works, make my life easier (and my showers shorter). Lifechanging results - Facial hair gone

So I suffer with some facial hair issues. Yep. I said it. Both chin and lip and I had to pluck at least once a week just to keep from bearded lady / circus freak status. And I'm talking thick, tough, persistent hair on my chin. I've now used this product each week for 6 weeks on both areas and poof! vast majority of thick dark hair is history. Now I still get one or two bad boys coming through but I'm continuing to treat these. Mostly what is left is soft, fine (normal) or vanished completely. The razor in the box is a huge improvement from the disposables I normally race through and still going strong. The device is pretty easy to use, cord is long enough to get in and around where you need to. I think I would have preferred it to be permanently attached and non-removable but it does make it easier to store neatly. I had no pain. None. I've started on my legs and underarms too and already these grow back thinner and finer after just a couple of weeks. I was a little worried about the finite "flashes" it mentions in the booklet and the bulb is not replaceable. However I counted how many "flashes" it took to cover one leg. And it worked out I would have enough in the bulb to go over each leg 100 - 150 times over, so pretty sure it will last way beyond what I could ever need it for. If you are not sure whether to invest in this product hesitate no more. I didn't think I would ever solve the hair on my face, I've been to the GP who couldn't detect a cause, so I'd resigned myself to a life of pain and tweezing. Then this came along and changed my life! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

A remarkable difference!!

I have been wanting to try laser hair removal for such a long time, but been afraid of the pain and cost factors. Now I am just annoyed that I waited so long!! Waxing is soooo painful (depending on the area) and actually works out insanely expensive over time but this product is honestly life changing! It is a weird sensation, I wouldn't say it hurts, but the pain for me is a bit like when you pluck an eyebrow in a weird way and you get a bit of a twinge! I have been using the Silk Expert for over 8 weeks now and seen a huge difference in my underarm hair which is amazing! My dark shadows were quite bad, but now I have much lighter underarms! The biggest difference that I've noticed is my lower legs though, I'm not having to shave anywhere near as much and they aren't speckled with the dark stubble of before! My advise would be to get this product if you are going to seriously invest the time, because it is completely worth it! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Loooove it!

Being a novice to this way of hair removal I was a little apprehensive and not really sure what to do. So lets start from the begining:Packaging was great, it gives the impression of a quality product. Good to know if you are giving it as a present. The instructions where clear and simple to follow. Gillette Venus razor, close and painless shave. Easy to handle and results are great. The Silk Expert was not too intimidating and a touch of purple makes all the difference Attaching the cable is simple, even I managed it.The settings on the side easy to understand. So I took the plunge after reading the instructions and started. What I was not prepared for was the flash of light, wow, don't be looking in the direction of where your working as it sends your eyes funny. Yes I know the instructions does say not to, but when your weary of what's going to happen you can't help it. After the initial shock I got the jist and managed to continue you while looking away. However it was so easy to use I was soon zapping legs and under arms with ease. The gentle /sensitive mode is easy to work out and operate. Many weeks on I am now a proffesional sleek zapper who can't believe the ease for such hairless results.Thumbs up from me.Worth the money, yes in the long run, defiantly. So far so good

I've had laser hair removal completed professionally before so was a little uncertain as to whether this would be any good. So far I've been pleasantly surprised. When using the Braun Silk expert IPL BD3001 it does give a little bit of a sting, it's not too bad though, more like a bit of a flick from an elastic band. I've watched some videos on how to effectively use the Device and as suggested in one, when using it on your legs it's best to section it up, I used a white eye liner as it's easy to wipe off afterwards. I then proceeded to go over each of my legs.It took about 30 mins to get them all completed. So far I have had reduced grow back and I'm hoping that after a few sessions the growth will be minimal. One thing I would sa though is that the cable is not long enough so you have to sit close to a socket when using it, a small price to pay for smooth legs though! Surprising results

As someone who has PCOS this was something I was really keen to try as unwanted hair can be a problem. When I got it I was really impressed with the look of it, smart and sleek. I started using it right away and have been using it twice a day and am starting to see a difference. The instructions are easy to follow although there are a lot of them so take the time to get it right. I'm still using it now and will be for some time to help different areas that I struggle with. Would recommend this for anyone. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

BEWARE HAIR! You've met your match!

Oh my days. It's every girls (or guys of course) dream! Imagine it, no shaving, no waxing, no rash, no bikini line, no quick dry shave...ouch! The. Hair. Is. Gone. Of course, you have to do little top ups along the way but hey! Who cares when you're that smooth :-). It's sleek and stylish, easy to use and relatively quick. Completely painless. I was disappointed to have to shave every area you treat first, but it's a small price to pay for the fabulous results. Once a week for 12 weeks initially. Top ups after that. Bish bash bosh you're done.Save a small fortune on beauty treatments, and razors! Save time in the shower or bath! Save yourself from the stubble and hairy areas!Save the world girls and guys! You're ready! It works. It's worth it. It's true! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Effective IPL Right at Home

This is my first home IPL experience and was excited to try it out. The package includes a Gillette Venus razor, which I found to be thoughtful. It can be intimidating at first, especially when you have to look away to avoid the flash - I was worried I wouldn't be able to glide the device properly if I wasn't looking, but I got used to it on the 3rd week.I've been using the Braun Silk Expert 3 IPL on my underarms and legs for a month now, and I am quite pleased with the results so far. I've had laser hair removal professionally done on my underarms 5 years ago, but have stray hairs that still needed to shaved. After 4 weeks, I was delighted to notice that the stray hairs have decreased! I'm hoping they'd disappear after a few more weeks of treatment.I haven't really noticed any changes on my legs just yet, but I know it is working because there is a smell after the zap that's the same as my laser treatments in the past. I'll give it a few more weeks and see if there are any noticeable changes. The device is a good size for someone with small hands; I'm able to hold it properly even while maneuvering the back of my legs, which is a bit harder to reach. It is also light enough that I don't feel my wrists strained after a full session.I highly recommend using the gentle mode on more sensitive areas like underarms and inner thighs. The normal strength was a little bit above my pain threshold, considering I've had laser treatments in the past. For reference, my skin tone is a medium tan, I get 1-2 lights on the device (number of lights determines strength of the laser). If there was a product improvement I'd recommend, it would be to include a storage bag or case. I use the original box to store it after use to prevent dust buildup, but it's too bulky.Overall, it's a nifty little device for in-home hair removal, and would recommend it. Hair Free Me!!

I've been using the Braun Silk expert 3 IPL device for several weeks now and am very impressed with the results so far. Coming from an Indian background, I am, embarrassingly, rather hairy. Not just that, my body hair is dark and thick and very quick to grow back. Up until now, I have tried waxing (left me with in-grown hairs and scars) and shaving (would get growth back in under 24 hours and if I shaved again too quickly I get unsightly razor rash) so I often just keep my legs covered! I've been looking for a better and more long term method of hair removal so really hoped that this product would do the trick. The product comes in attractive packaging and, helpfully, includes a Gillette Venus razor. I was pleased to find that the device is very simple to operate. Essentially, you plug it in and go! As directed, I have used it once a week for 8 weeks. I didn't notice any change for the first 3-4 weeks so was starting to feel a bit disappointed. However, I continued using the device and soon after that I noticed that there was a decrease in my hair growth and the hair was not growing back as quickly as it previously did. So far, I have been using it on my legs, arms, underarms and upper lip. I'm hoping that these results continue and my hair growth reduces to almost nothing! The device is a bit heavy but still fairly easy to use. It plugs into a socket which is really helpful as you don't have to wait for it to charge up before use. When using the device, you hold it against your skin and it has two lights on the side which will turn white if you have positioned it correctly. You can then press the button to get a pulse of light. If you haven't positioned it correctly, the lights on the side will stay red and the laser won't work until you have correctly positioned it. When the laser activates, there is a flash of bright light so I'd advise against looking directly at it. The actual laser is not painful. It can feel a little hot against more sensitive areas and there may be some redness after use but I found that this disappears quite quickly. There is also a "sensitive" setting which can be used for treating sensitive areas. The only downside - and it is relatively minor - is that is takes quite a long time to treat the whole body and you can forget which areas you've treated and miss patches (especially on legs and arms). In order you speed up treatment on larger areas, you can hold down the power button continuously and just move the the device along the area you are treating. I tried this but found I preferred to do each section individually, ie hold the device against my skin, press the button and then let go after the flash and then move the device to the next patch, press the button again etc.Overall, I am definitely impressed so far. I will continue using this product and hope to soon be hair free. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
